Description:
KCKenya's comments about how changing the Geneva Conventions threatens US soldiers reminded me of this clip I saved of John McCain a few weeks ago |

JahRage ::: Favorites Sorry guys, I don't buy this at all. Does the final bill prevent W from using torture? It doesn't even seem to pretoct citizens from being declared enemy combatants. This would allow american citizens to be tortured as well. Why is nobody talking about this? I guess we know one thing, the news loves a good sex scandal. 06-10-09 03:31:36 _____________________________________________________
p00lman ::: Favorites Bush was always an idiot, before or during presidency. McCain actually has some brain in his head and, thankfully, some measure of a conscience. Were he elected president, I'd hope both would survive the ordeal. 06-10-09 03:50:35 _____________________________________________________
DaCoach68 ::: Favorites WHY won't boygeorgebush LISTEN to MILITARY MEN? Duuuuh. 06-10-09 07:00:50 _____________________________________________________
nienna67 ::: Favorites McCain should be ashamed of himself. He just wants to be Prez SOOOO much, he'd sell his soul...perhaps already has. from the boston globe -- At this last provision, McCain balked. He and his two Republican allies on the Senate Armed Services Committee, Lindsey Graham and John Warner, rose to defend the Geneva Conventions as protecting US prisoners and the American soul. But then deep negotiations with the administration ensued. con't 06-10-09 15:21:59 _____________________________________________________
nienna67 ::: Favorites When the parties emerged, the compromise looked uncannily like the original administration bill. Nominally, we reaffirm the Geneva protections. But the bill explicitly authorizes the president to define what that means. A detainee's right to challenge his detention to an independent judge (habeas corpus) is still eliminated, as is the right of the accused to see evidence. And the CIA retains the ability to spirit people to third countries that don't even pretend to ban torture. 06-10-09 15:22:31 _____________________________________________________
dejahthoris ::: Favorites McCain will so be the next pres. I would love to see Clark go up against him. 06-10-10 02:32:15 _____________________________________________________
dcoy773 ::: Favorites Thanks for the clip. I think it illuminates the insanity of the Bush administration. They are pursuing policy that is more dangerous to the American way of life than the terrorists that they claim justify defying international law. It is crazy when someone like McCain can be viewed as a left-leaning for refusing to permit water-boarding. The discussion of this particular issue lies outside the liberal vs. conservative debate. A more apt debate would be western democracy vs. totalitarian regime. 06-10-13 00:04:16 _____________________________________________________
bourneparker ::: Favorites I second that. 07-06-10 21:39:36 _____________________________________________________
mongobobo ::: Favorites If McCain is anything he is a political animal. He'll say or do anything to curry favor. 07-06-22 02:20:10 _____________________________________________________
NILgravity ::: Favorites Ron Paul just passed him in cash he's yesterdays news 07-07-08 23:29:44 _____________________________________________________ |
