Description: Here's a sample of my modded Epiphone Valve Junior. I'm playing an ESP LTD EC-1000 with Seymour Duncan pickups (JB bridge, 59 neck) straight into the amp, which goes into a closed-back 2x12 with new reissue Celestion Greenbacks. I have the bridge pickup full up and the neck pickup about 1/4 up. I start the clip off with the amp volume 1/4 of the way up, then move it to 1/2 way up, then to 3/4, then all the way up. At that point I switch to the neck pup so you can see how well it cleans up with the pup turned down. I then back the amp back down to about "9" and switch back to the bridge. Even though this was recorded with a digital camera, I think you can get an idea of how the amp sounds. Forgive my incredibly bad playing. :) |

GoogleEqualsEvil ::: Favorites 2008-01-12 17:15:02 You're obviously not good at math or physics as they apply to sound amplification. It takes a 10 fold increase in power to achieve twice the volume. It is a logarithmic scale. Obviously if you decrease the power by 10 fold you cut the volume in half. Therefore, 5 watts is HALF the volume of 50 watts (50/5 = 10 fold). If you want to know the change in volume in decibels between different wattages, the equation is: 10*log(P1/P0), where P1 is the desired watts, and P0 is the starting watts. __________________________________________________
luismars666 ::: Favorites 2008-01-11 15:44:19 Can you please tell the world what you did to the amp? Sounds great! __________________________________________________

leetamm ::: Favorites 2007-09-12 06:33:35 No, not really. I didn't like the sound of it at all before I modded it. It was very farty sounding when cranked. The mods made a huge difference. __________________________________________________
PutItAway101 ::: Favorites 2007-09-12 02:10:56 Excellent. Definitely going to get one of these and look into the mods. __________________________________________________
umangu ::: Favorites 2007-09-03 05:38:35 Did the amp sound pretty similar before you modded it, cause I'm sold on the sound you're getting __________________________________________________

HoldeyMoeBeel ::: Favorites 2007-08-15 14:36:03 5 watts is 50% as loud as 50 watts. __________________________________________________
deadlydunc ::: Favorites 2007-08-14 10:22:03 thats 5 clean watts. when overdriven it will be louder than 5 watts. __________________________________________________
T3hVid30Cr1tic ::: Favorites 2007-08-11 14:23:05 5 tube watts is going to sound massive. Tube watts are very different from solid state watts. __________________________________________________ |
