Kobe Bryant Chris Rock Spike Lee points 07-08 Lakers fire Isiah chants triple double clutch 4th defense
Description: Other Notes: This was capped by revgen from clublakers. Boxscore: http://www.nba.com/games/20071223/LALNYK/boxscore.html Before the game, Kobe Bryant was 20 points shy of breaking the record for being the youngest player to reach 20,000 points. His very next game would be in his favorite and legendary basketball arena, the Madison Square Garden against the New York Knicks. During the game, Bryant was aggressive scoring 12 of the Laker's first 31 points and helping to a 31-21 lead to end the 1st quarter. In the 2nd quarter, he didn't look to break the record as he had 5 assists in the quarter alone to add with 6 rebounds. On the 2nd possession of the 3rd quarter, Bryant reached the 20,000 point plateau on a 3 point shot on the fast break. He then caught fire in the 3rd knocking down 3 three bombs and nearing the triple double mark. He helped his team reach lead by as much as 25, even taunting and making bets with Chris Rock and Spike Lee. The Knicks fans sure loved it. At the other end however, Jamal Crawford caught fire knocking jumpshots from every spot on the basketball floor. He helped keep the Knicks close in the 3rd quarter. To make matters worse, Phil Jackson started the killer lineup to start the 4th, the same one that costed LA multiple games earlier in the season. The Knicks took advantage and Crawford took control. Kobe Bryant though was hardly ready to concede as he made his next 4 fadeaway jumpshots. He scored 13 points in the 4th scoring that same amount of points in a row at one point for the Lakers. Jamal Crawford answered with 11 consecutive points of his own helping the Knicks cut the deficit to 1 point(91-90). Bryant answered with a clutch jumper while jawing with Spike Lee and Chris Rock as the Lakers held on for a 95-90 win. Kobe's statline was 39 points, 11 rebounds, 8 assists, 2 steals, and on 14-28 from the field and 5-12 from 3 pt. |

lordpalpatine2007 ::: Favorites 2008-01-02 05:37:51 kobe hardley played his rookie season, the lakers already had a good team.. king james has been playing 40 minutes a game since he got drafted, the cavs are nothing without him, he will get to 20,000 faster , not cuz hes better , because his team sucks __________________________________________________
LaCongoleseChicax ::: Favorites 2008-01-01 21:00:31 omgg kobe rocks!!!!!!1 __________________________________________________
KB824EVA ::: Favorites 2007-12-31 22:33:25 wat u mean based on age? its not based on age, its based on how good u are in scorin of course, u can enter the league at 14yrs old, but if u only avg 4ppg, thats not gonna change anythin so its also based on ur offensive abilities __________________________________________________
nelvern07 ::: Favorites 2007-12-31 21:18:44 All these news outlets talking up this youngest-to-20,000-record has left me a little perplexed. I know it's a nice-sounding record, but since I am a stats-kinda-guy, I find that it's inherently flawed to judge these type of records based on age. Perhaps if all NBA players entered the league at 18 years old, then the accomplishment would have some weight, but that's just not the case - making all this mostly just hype. __________________________________________________
enzo4dbest ::: Favorites 2007-12-31 18:58:01 Shaq looks like he can't even move. __________________________________________________
KB824EVA ::: Favorites 2007-12-31 16:57:00 who said anythin bout rings? __________________________________________________
MJLANDO ::: Favorites 2007-12-31 16:49:01 but kobe has a nba finals ring and lebron does not. __________________________________________________
chitownmo ::: Favorites 2007-12-31 16:29:49 Lebron did have a better season because he had more of an opportunity along with his ability. Kobe had a coach against him and a lineup of veterans in front of him and still put up solid numbers as a high school draftee. All-Star since his second season and every season since then(No All-Star game in 99; Strike) __________________________________________________
KB824EVA ::: Favorites 2007-12-31 16:26:03 no it doesnt, fact still remains lebron had a way better rookie season than kobe, he had more points and nothin is gonna change that, its the past, so i'm sayin lebron is ahead __________________________________________________
chitownmo ::: Favorites 2007-12-31 16:24:49 Yes, it does. He started from day one, had no one else in front of him, of course he would do better statistically. It is a matter of opportunity. He will reach 20,000 faster. __________________________________________________
KB824EVA ::: Favorites 2007-12-31 16:18:27 does that change the fact that lebron still had a better rookie season? no, so it dont matter if lebron is bigger or kobe was with better ppl, fact still remains lebron had a better season, and he got advantage on kobe in scorin, so he will reach 20,000 pts faster __________________________________________________
underwear17 ::: Favorites 2007-12-31 14:08:41 smart move to trade Shaq, and keep Kobe by the Lakers Shaq looks like he's ready to retire, and the Heat is sucking this year. meanwhile the Lakers are second in their division __________________________________________________
nuzzinaples ::: Favorites 2007-12-31 12:24:00 it's more then just that. mj played great in the reg. season, but took it up a notch in the playoffs EVERY YEAR. kobe hasn't done this on a consistent level. how you fair in the playoffs and finals has a big impact on how you rank as an all-time great. kobe has said this himself. Once MJ figured out how to play the right way, he never lost another playoff series after that. kobe seems to be figuring it out this year as mj did in 90-91. lets see if he continues to do it. __________________________________________________
