you know, i had a simular idea to that. Maybe we can use human neurons to create virtual AI people. Like stick them inside second life and see how they explore and act with the world and other people.

if they can teach neurons then cant we take human brain tissue and teach them then input them back into the brain to have the human learn without taking the courses

Basically, neurons were manipulated into proper resistance values or "weights" as they call them at 2 of the channels for pitch and roll similar to moving a joy stick and increasing/decreasing resistance to control particular functions -- search whitepaper in pdf... Necessary is feedback mechanism or intelligence of "the program" to control the creepy joystick. lol

i suppose the neurons know right from wrong in the same sense that you know, for example, if you play takken on your PS2 and you get hit, you get a vibration to let you know that you are hurt, some kind of punishment, the idea is that in this experiment those neurons get the same "vibration" that you get, but they get a shock that tells them that something went wrong, and they might did something wrong at least thats what i understood from this video cheers

You probably want some real neurons if you wanna make a really good AI.. (for a ro-bot i mean :) cool stuff, research-papers from this exp. was released in 03-04.. more cool stuff please!

does this mean that when i develop cancer my brain can be cut out, put into an electrode grid and i can keep living through circuitry? i hope not only that, but that computers will be so fast that they'll be capable of storing my consciousnes without any living cell. maybe then i'll become an energy based lifeform, transmiting my will by radio, and living in several computers at the same time
