Description:

Part 78 of my playthrough Here we go: fighting to get the Ragnarok, Cecil's "best" weapon. I can't say much on this one, except that Dark Bahamut is a bastard. Strategy used against Dark Bahamut: Can you survive the opening Mega Flare? If so, congratulations. Be prepared for the worst. First off, Dark Bahamut does Mega Flare at the beginning of the fight. Then, it will throw Reflect on itself. Then, it will start raping with Flare, and it really hurts. Summon Bahamut, and you will provoke it to use Mega Flare. It is a tad weaker, but it still hurts. This is what I did: revive after the initial Mega Flare, heal up, and start casting Reflect. Have Rydia use Bahamut, and Dark Bahamut will use Mega Flare. It's Mega Flare will bounce off and deal damage. Just keep using Bahamut, and Dark Bahamut should go down. If you fear Mega Flare, then don't bother using my strategy. Just refrain from summoning Bahamut. Oh...and watch out for Flare. Covers- †Dark Bahamut boss fight †Gets Ragnarok †Advances farther into the dungeon Heh. Flare "missed" 3 times. LOL I got lucky. Fun facts: --Dark Bahamut was called Wyvern in the US localization of FFIV (when it was known as FFII in the US on the SNES. Same thing in the PS version of FFIV in FF Chronicles) --Ragnarok was called Crystal There is a reason why my party members have low HP. You will see in the next part.

I didn't bother buying Fuma Shurikens. My mind was somewhere else when I was recording.

For this battle even on the SNES/PS1 game I still prefer edge throwing weapons. Since the item dupe trick doesn't work on the GBA version buy shuriken/fuma shuriken and throw those. At LV 55+ this boss should still lose over 6000+ per throw and yes I didn't bother summoning Bahamut/Reflecting party members at at all. I won in less then 4 minutes.

Not like healing Dark Bahamut is gonna hurt me. I am dealing more damage than I can heal him. And besides, multiple reflected Mega Flare deals out more damage. There are times when you have to take risks to take a boss down, in this case, healing Dark Bahamut.

**Casts Reflect on party** **FLARE** **Casts Curaja on party** **Dark Bahamut is healed** YOU FOOL!

That's the whole point. Gotta be ready for changes in the midst of battle. It is like preparing to use Curaja, and then BOOM!, the gets hit by Silence. Healer casts Curaja, Curaja fails, turn wasted.

I prefer Wait which gives me time to think strategically. If it's Active, you won't be ready to react to when the opponent strikes you when you are busy searching for an item.

Can't be helped. Aside from the level (maybe some people made it to this dungeon at about the level I am at), the bosses are pretty tough. Don't forget: battle speed is on MAX and ACTIVE. I like it fast, plus it adds a little to the difficulty. It is all about strategy.

That's the whole point. Only thing is that most of your crew got their butts handed to ya.

Well, in this video, my strategy was to get Reflect on everyone, then summon Bahamut. This will provoke Dark Bahamut to use its Mega Flare. Dark Bahamut uses Mega Flare, it reflects, my party is saved from Mega Flare, Dark Bahamut takes damage. Keeping using Bahamut on Dark Bahamut, and the same thing continues. Pretty much Dark Bahamut is killing itself.

My strategy for Dark Bahamut is to have everyone with Reflect. Then, have someone reflect the magic attacks back to it and watch it go down.
